Do you love your country?
I do.
I used to hate my country.
I really did.
I thought the bureaucracy was suck
I thought the leaders were stupid
I thought the policies were mindless
One day, I had this talk with a friend
A good friend
We talked about our country
And its entire lack ness
I said, "When I grown up, I don't want to live here. I will live in another country."
And she said, “I’m going to go far, than come back here someday, and make it better. I want to do something about it.”
Than I realized that I want to do something for my country too
I want to do anything I can
And I realized that what I hate was
the bureaucracy,
the leaders
the policies
the people, though I just realized that not all people are mindless
but not the country itself
On my relatively young age
I’ve traveled a lot
All of it for a quite long time
And I met many people from many countries
When I was with them
I realized that I want them to respect my country
I want to be on my best behavior so they will see me as the representative of my country
And make them respect it
I want to make my country proud.
I still think that the bureaucracy sucks
I still think that the leaders are stupid
I still think that the policies are worthless
And I want to make it better
I’ve met, seen, known a lot of GREAT people that come from my country
And I believe together, we can make a difference.
I love my country
I want to make it different
Because its my home
My shelter
My identity
Its far from perfect but its home
My country is INDONESIA
And I love it.
What’s yours?
Do you love it?
You have to.
Don't let it make a gap between people
and define who we are ,what we are
But let that be a variety
that makes our world a better place

.: For Ria, thanks for that talk that really change me as a person. I mean it. :.

Nationalism.
Something that I'd never thought I'd have.
Gue anak paskibra di SMA. Tapi gw merasa tidak nasionalis.
A friend once told me that there are two kinds of people in the world: the smart, and the nationalist.
I agreed wholeheartedly with that joke.
But then, gw kuliah, gw menjalani hidup, and I found things that somehow just made me think "Damn, I have to do something for this country". Padahal, beberapa tahun sebelumnya, my thoughts were "Damn, I gotta leave this country".
I guess, seeing your home in this kinda condition would be enough to make anyone a nationalist.
btw, blog gw yang satu lagi tambahin juga dong =)
